Scott Warlickfarmer, a Snap-on franchisee, told us last week that he had done research on the UV spectrum to find the best available mechanics light to use for UV leak detection, and he eventually decided upon Sunlite’s 8-Watt Focused Projection (8WFP) UV-395 Flashlight.

According to Warlickfarmer, he recently used Sunlite’s 8WFP UV-395 Flashlight to examine a leaking tractor engine, and to his amazement it showed the oil leak perfectly, even in daylight and from a distance of 12 feet away!

The 8WFP LED head makes use of an extra-large reflector that focuses and directs the emitted light beam to make it more powerful and travel farther.  White Light (emitted by the 8WFP White LED head) can travel a distance of approximately 1,000 feet!

The LED heads for Sunlite’s 8WFP Flashlight are made using Sunlite’s patented, Application Specific LED (AS-LED) modules.  The AS-LED modules maximize heat dissipation away from the LED chip and help keep the UV light being emitted at the desired wavelength.  The LED heads are also made with sturdy glass lenses that don’t degrade and lead to a reduction in light output.
